We checked all 8,047 products returned by the Toner Buzz storefront catalog, then ranked the ten lowest-cost distinct printer groups that met the criteria below. A low toner cost only matters when the cartridge fits your printer, so compatibility comes first.

What the Results Show

Konica Minolta TN413K leads on running cost and declared yield in this top-ten group. It gives the bizhub C452 and C552DS an estimated toner cost of $1.29 per 1,000 declared pages.

TN319K has the lowest purchase price at $39 and ranks second for running cost at $1.34 per 1,000 pages. Ricoh 888368 and 841357 follow at about $1.38 and $1.39.

How to Read Cost per Page

We use cost per 1,000 pages because small fractions of a dollar are easier to compare at that scale:

Cost per 1,000 pages = cartridge price ÷ declared yield × 1,000

For example, TN413K costs $58.14 and has a listed yield of 45,000 pages. The calculation is $58.14 divided by 45,000, then multiplied by 1,000. That produces an estimated toner cost of $1.29 per 1,000 pages.

This calculation covers black toner only. It does not include the printer, paper, drums, imaging units, maintenance kits, electricity, service, tax, or shipping.

Which Printer Families Stand Out?

Konica Minolta bizhub C452/C552DS and bizhub C360: Their TN413K and TN319K cartridges lead at $1.29 and $1.34 per 1,000 pages.

Other Ricoh Aficio families: The 3260C/5560C, MP C6501/C7501, and high-volume MP group all stay around $1.38 to $1.40 per 1,000 pages in this comparison.

More recent Konica Minolta families: The bizhub C458/C558/C658 and C450i/C550i/C650i groups use black toner that calculates to about $1.46 to $1.47 per 1,000 pages.

Start with the exact printer page, not a general brand page. It shows the toner and maintenance supplies currently listed for that model, including color cartridges, drums, developer units, and waste-toner containers where applicable.

That broader check matters most with used office machines. A low black-toner cost can still be a poor deal when another required supply is expensive, unavailable, or near the end of its service life.

Before You Choose a Printer

• Confirm the exact cartridge number for the printer model.
• Check whether the printer and its other maintenance supplies are still readily available.
• Compare standard and high-yield toner choices, then include color toner, drums, and service when the printer requires them.
• Use declared yield for comparison, not as a guaranteed page count.

A low toner cost does not make an unsuitable printer a good purchase. Print speed, color needs, monthly volume, repair support, and the condition of the machine still matter.

Why Your Actual Toner Cost Will Differ

Declared page yield is a comparison figure measured under defined test conditions. ISO/IEC 19752:2025 covers monochrome toner cartridges, while ISO/IEC 19798:2025 covers black and color toner cartridges used in color print systems. Neither standard measures print quality, reliability, or total printer operating cost.

Actual yield changes with toner coverage, job size, print settings, paper choice, calibration, and other device behavior. Image-heavy pages usually consume more toner than light text pages.

• The Toner Buzz storefront catalog returned 8,047 products when checked on August 26, 2026.
• To qualify, a product had to be in stock, cost $60 or less, be a single-pack black toner cartridge, have a numerical listed yield, and include at least one compatible printer model. Waste-toner products were excluded.
• Ninety-three products met those criteria. The table shows the ten distinct compatible printer groups with the lowest calculated toner cost per 1,000 pages.
• Ricoh 841767 was excluded because its listing combines a 48,000-page carton yield with unit-level references to 8,000 pages, making the sold-unit denominator unclear.
• Prices, availability, listed yields, and printer fit came from the linked Toner Buzz product and printer pages. Prices can change.
